FAMILY ASKING HELP FOR JUSTICE- A 22yr OLD WOMAN DIES AFTER BEING SHOT BY AN OFF DUTY CHICAGO DETECTIVE

A 22yr old woman died from her gun shot wound to the head by an off duty detective on March 22, 2012 , the detective ask for all the people at Douglas Park (westside of chicago) to quiet down as he sat in his car, The report says a 39-year-old man pull a gun and pointed it at the officer, the officer pulled his own gun and open fire. The officer hit the alleged gunman in the hand and Rekia Boyd. RekiaBoyd was shot in the head as the officer shot at the allged gunman. That's were the story becomes suspect and questionable. The Family of Rekia Boyd says she was an innocent bystander and are calling for an investigation into her death. The alleged gunman was charged with aggravated assault, which is a misdemeanor. One of Rekia family members said "First you got Trayvon, now you got Rekia," "Senseless, senseless violence. It didn't have to happen." When I first read this story I could only think of is What happen? How much power do the police of Chicago have, the gun man wasn't charge in relation to the death of the young woman, The bigger question is how did the officer pull a gun so quick from his waist in his car(at this time in news articles wasnt a Chicago police department car) and fired at a suspect that had a gun pointed already? The family is calling for justice as they try and move foward with lossing a family member to the hands of an OFF DUTY DETECTIVE There were a park full of people and no one came foward saying they saw a gun being pointed at the officer only the police report backs the fact that there was an gun pointed at the OFF DUTY OFFICER The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the shooting.
